Join the African American Dance Ensemble on January 1, 2025, for our 39th Kwanzaa celebration! We will focus on the principle of Imani, which represents Faith. It’s a time to wholeheartedly believe in our community and the justness of our struggles. Kwanzaa is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate African American culture and values, such as unity, self-determination, collective responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. It’s also a moment for reflection and joy, featuring communal feasts and gatherings that unite family and friends.

Doors will open at noon, with performances kicking off at 2:00 pm at the historic Durham Armory. Kwanzaa attracts a wide audience, creates a fun family-friendly atmosphere, displaying African American performing artists and supporting small businesses. It serves as both a marketplace for vendors and a vibrant performing arts concert, filled with dance, music, poetry, and more. Artists and artistic groups from across the region will join the African American Dance Ensemble for a heartwarming celebration of love, sharing, and inspiring entrepreneurship as we welcome the new year.

In memory of Baba Chuck Davis, we encourage you to bring canned goods and toiletries, which will be donated to Ummi's Ummah of Durham.
