We are medical students at Indiana University School of Medicine with a vested interest in the well-being of our Northwest Indiana community. Health is complex and involves more than just medicine; healthy living is rooted in our everyday habits, especially in what we eat and how much we eat. Every day, members of our community struggle to put healthy food on the table. This is why we paired with the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana to assist food-insecure families. Together, we are coordinating the food drive charity event Go for Gary 5k: Family Fun Run.

Our ability to help the 100,000 individuals facing hunger in Lake and Porter counties depends on the generosity and support of people like you: community members, neighbors, and friends. We are raising money and food to help those who need it. You can play an integral role in this mission through your donation and participation.

Our fundraising deadline will culminate in our third annual 5k run/walk. The trail follows the beautiful Marquette Park area, which sits along the Lake Michigan beachfront. We welcome everyone in our NWI community to join us in celebrating the mission of this charity and enjoying the end of summer. It will also be the last day the beaches will be open for the season, so bring your friends and family.
