In partnership with the MLK Jr. Memorial Library, the Georgetown-Howard Center for Medical Humanities and Health Justice will host “Grown Women Talking: Lessons on Women’s Health Through Community” with speakers Dr. Sharon Malone and Jonquilyn Hill. This event will discuss women’s health and the lore that influences personal health decisions. Using Sharon Malone’s book Grown Woman Talk: Your Guide to Getting and Staying Healthy, this conversation will explore the role of patient and caregiver narratives in navigating our right to quality healthcare.
***A limited number of Dr. Malone’s book will be provided at the event to those who are unable to purchase one. A photo opportunity with Dr. Malone after the event will also be available.Please select the ticket for this at registration.
We will also host a community organization fair prior to the main event featuring women’s health organizations who serve the greater Washington region. Attendees will have an opportunity to receive health screenings, referrals, and education, as well as engage with local women’s health advocacy groups. Organizations interested in tabling during the community fair can sign up here.
