Laszlo Gardony and Christian Artmann

The Buttonwood Tree presents the returning musical showcase of internationally-acclaimed piano artist Laszlo Gardony, with flautist Christian Artmann. Venue is fully wheelchair accessible.

Close friends and record label-mates Laszlo Gardony and Christian Artmann bring you the unique, extraordinary music born from their collaboration.

Audiences at the Buttonwood have long enjoyed renowned pianist Laszlo Gardony's soulful and inspiring performances. Now, let's introduce Christian Artmann.

Christian studied composition with Laszlo at Berklee 25 years ago and jazz flute with Matt Marvuglio. With a strong classical background, he has become a respected New York jazz flutist and composer, landing a deal with Sunnyside Records - the same label that released eleven of Laszlo's fourteen albums. Christian’s career also highlights the growing connection between Berklee and Harvard, as he holds a law degree from Harvard. Laszlo's trio of 25 years (John Lockwood, Yoron Israel, and Laszlo) had the pleasure to record “ The Middle of Life” album with Christian during the introspective and solitary COVID times, resulting in extraordinary music.

Laszlo's latest recording, “Close Connection,” made DownBeat Magazine’s “Best Albums of 2023” list - his third album to receive this honor. Music from “Close Connection” will also be featured in this concert.
