In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, SBH Health System in the Bronx will host a Hispanic Heritage Celebration at their Health & Wellness Center for two days on Tuesday October 8, and Wednesday October 9, 2024. On October 8, SBH will recognize Puerto Rico, and October 9, will recognize the Dominican Republic, honoring the cultures of the community that SBH serves.

Throughout the event, highlights will include LIVE performances including a Mariachi Band and cultural dance groups. The event will also include award ceremonies to honor major contributors to the community. Carmen Rivera, Chief Vocational & Community Affairs Officer, VIP Community Services will accept an award and Dr. Amarilis Jacobo, SBH Trustee, will accept a posthumous award in honor of her father, Astin Jacobo, known as the "Mayor of Crotona," who helped establish affordable housing. Food, light refreshments, and a DJ will also be available throughout the program.
