7:00 pm - 8:30 pm: Concert 1 - Ragtime Quartet
Banjo virtuoso Aaron Jonah Lewis, Tuba Bach’s 2024 Artist in Residence Alirna Korieva on violin, and Tuba Bach favorites Noah Mallett (xylophone/percussion) and Alvin Waddles (piano) - plus Ed on tuba. A toe-tapping taste of popular music from the early 20th century to kick off the 2024 festival.

4:00 pm - 5:30 pm: Concert 1 - Ragtime Quartet

Americana/blues/jazz artist Paul Asbell, Celtic master Tony McManus, and Jazz great Randy Napoleon, all held together by the versatile, virtuoso bass guitar genius of Jeff Pedraz. Ed joins these four incredible musicians for an eclectic mix of duos, trios, and quartets.

4:00 pm - 5:30 pm: Concert 2 - All-Star Guitar Quartet

Featuring four doctoral candidates from the Michigan State University College of Music - violinists Alirna Korieva and Natasha Kubit, violist Meagan Turner, and cellist Mira Cheng, with original works for euphonium/tuba and string quartet by Kevin Day, Frank Gulino, Lon Chaffin, Noah Mallett, and David Gillingham.

4:00 pm - 5:30 pm: Concert 3 - String Quartet
Featuring four doctoral candidates from the Michigan State University College of Music - violinists Alirna Korieva and Natasha Kubit, violist Meagan Turner, and cellist Mira Cheng, with original works for euphonium/tuba and string quartet by Kevin Day, Frank Gulino, Lon Chaffin, Noah Mallett, and David Gillingham.

7:00 pm - 8:30 pm: Concert 4 - Percussion Quartet
Big Rapids natives Noah Mallett (master’s student at Michigan State University) and Kramer Milan (faculty at Boise State University), plus MSU professor Gwendolyn Dease and Hartt School of Music DMA candidate Dan Ingman. With world premieres of music for euphonium/tuba and percussion by Jeremy Makkonen, Ed Mallett, Noah Mallett, and Ayako Pederson-Takeda - and much more.

October 6, 2024

4:00 pm - 5:30 pm: Concert 4 - Percussion Quartet

Orbis Sonorum (World of Sound) Quartet, featuring Uzbek violinist Alirna Korieva, Georgian cellist Sandro Sidamonidze, jazz pianist Jordan Anderson representing Cameroonian and Central African traditions, and percussionist Angel Hernandez representing Afro-Cuban and Latin American traditions, along with Ed Mallett on euphonium and tuba. Exciting mash-ups and explorations of diverse musical cultures coming together to create something unique.

October 13, 2024

4:00 pm - 5:30 pm: Concert 5 - Orbis Sonorum

Four faculty members from the world-renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston. In addition to their vocal talents, Chris Humphrey, Taylor O’Donnell, Paul Pampinella, and David Thorne Scott are also all accomplished instrumentalists. Ed joins in the fun for a trip down Memory Lane back to the swing era - and a delightful close to the 2024 Tuba Bach Festival.

October 20, 2024

4:00 pm - 5:30 pm: Concert 6 - Vintage Vocal Quartet
Four faculty members from the world-renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston. In addition to their vocal talents, Chris Humphrey, Taylor O’Donnell, Paul Pampinella, and David Thorne Scott are also all accomplished instrumentalists. Ed joins in the fun for a trip down Memory Lane back to the swing era - and a delightful close to the 2024 Tuba Bach Festival.
