“As Chair of the Native American Democratic Caucus of Idaho, a Nimiipuu woman, and a candidate for the Idaho State House of Representatives, I take pride in celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day - a day to honor our history, our contributions, and our future. This day reminds us of our resilience and power, not just in survival, but in thriving and leading.

Our ancestors fought hard to preserve our languages, cultures, and traditions, and we continue that fight today—through leadership, advocacy, and representation. As Native people, we are not only reclaiming our narratives, but we are also forging new paths forward.

Across this nation, we see Native leaders rising to the challenge—whether it’s through protecting voting rights, serving in public office, or advocating for policy changes that uplift our communities. On this day, we are not just celebrating who we have been, but who we are becoming. Our strength lies in our unity, in our love, and in our commitment to justice and equity for all Indigenous peoples.

As we honor our ancestors, we also celebrate our joy, our achievements, and the bright future we are building together.”
