Girls Burn Brighter by Shaobha Rao
The power of true friendship. A riveting account of two poor Indian girls and their struggle to find each other after being parted. Their search takes the reader into the underworld of India--misogyny, sex trafficking, domestic abuse. Recommend.
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
This is a terrific book involving a female scientist's struggle to advance in worlds dominated by men. Moves quickly; ultimately optimistic.
The Socialite's Guide to Murder by S. K. Golden
Ugh! Don't bother--poorly written, a total cliché, a "mystery" you'll figure out so early you'll wonder why you've kept reading. Supposedy "Golden Age" but reads like the author has no background in history. Don't believe the back cover blurbs--none of it is true.
Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister
So good! A clever plot--reliving a life backwards to try to prevent a crime in the present--and written in a compelling, gripping style. The twists will make you gasp. A great read!
Maggie Moves On by Lucy Score
5 Stars
One of my favorite rom-coms!
Great characters with very realistic, sarcastic & witty banter.
Love the incorporation of home renovations, felt like a lifetime movie & HGTV show wrapped into one!
Lavender House by Lev AC Rosen
A really good locked room mystery with a twist of an LGBTQ "cast" - compelling storytelling, characters you can become invested in. Liked it a lot.
Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica
Mystery/Thriller. Small town community murder mystery told from different character perspectives. Many twists and turns that will keep you guessing. Excellent read and unexpected ending.
Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann
A very interesting true account of another horrible (yet little known) period in our country's history. Makes one sad to think we've not come very far in some ways. (Has been made into a film but I think reading the book is always a good idea).
Spare by Prince Harry
This was a phenomenal book. Absolutely have to listen to Prince Harry reading it.
Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li
Fun and fast while still being introspective. A heist novel that's part Gold Diggers and My Year Abroad wrapped up in Ocean's Eleven.
