For People Living with Lung Disease, Wellness Starts Here

We launched the Patient & Caregiver Network Wellness Hub to help people living with lung disease improve their everyday lives and overall wellness.

For Jenna Zaffino, our resident wellness expert and innovator, the key to wellness is taking small steps every day to build healthy habits. The free resources of the Wellness Hub are designed to help you do just that:

- Mindfulness practices to help manage stress;
- Self-discovery practices to cultivate self-support and resilience;
- Partner-based practices for people living with lung disease and their caregivers;
- Nutrition tips and recipe ideas;
- Movement practices to support a healthy body from the inside out; and
- Learning lounge with educational articles, audio and mini-courses.

You can start taking your first steps to wellness today. All you have to do is complete the free sign-up for the Patient & Caregiver Network.

Protect Your Lungs During Extreme Heat

Extreme heat is deadlier than hurricanes, floods and tornadoes combined. With over half the country under heat alerts this week, we’re urging people living with lung disease and their caregivers to take extra precautions to stay safe:

Go to our Extreme Heat webpage to learn how to prepare for extreme heat; the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke; and what do to during an extreme heat warning.

Extreme heat is often accompanied by poor air quality: learn more about the Air Quality Index.

For information on preparing for natural disasters, see Emergencies and Natural Disasters on Lung.org, or contact our Lung HelpLine at 1-800-LUNGUSA.

Help Us Respond to Threats to Lung Health and Access to Care

All this has happened in just the last couple of weeks:

- U.S. Supreme Court decisions to eliminate the long-standing principle of Chevron deference, and block enforcement of the “good neighbor” pollution rule.

- U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations’ reckless efforts to reorganize the National Institutes of Health.

- The FDA’s disastrous authorization of menthol-flavored electronic cigarettes for adult-smokers.

- A U.S. Court of Appeals ruling that continues uncertainly over access to preventative care, such as vaccines and no-cost screenings.

You can help us respond and advocate for positive change by joining our Lung Action Network.
