New Campaign Empowers Parents to Talk to Their Kids About Vaping

To address the dangers of youth vaping, we launched a new nationwide awareness campaign, “You’re the Best Person,” created in partnership with the Ad Council.

The public service announcements (PSAs) use humor to emphasize the importance of parents conveying the message to their kids about vaping. Watch and share the 30?second PSAs:

Patient Advocates Did Their Part: Now It’s Your Turn

Last week, as part of our second annual Respiratory Advocacy Day, patient advocates living with lung disease met in person with members of Congress to share their personal stories and ask for legislative action to support lung health and prevent lung disease.

Now it’s your turn to drive their message home by asking your members of Congress to:

- Co-sponsor the Supplemental Oxygen Access Reform (SOAR) ActTake action on supplemental oxygen.
- Make enhanced premium tax credits permanent, so that 5 million enrollees will not lose healthcare coverage. Take action on affordable healthcare.

It’s Asthma Peak Week: Be Prepared

The third week of September is Asthma Peak Week, the week when emergency room and hospital visits for asthma typically spike, especially among children.

We offer comprehensive resources and programs to help you control and prevent worsening asthma:

- Back to School with Healthy Lungs provides guidance for parents, young adults and school staff to help ensure that everyone heads back to school safely.
- Growing Up With Asthma: Transitioning to Elementary School highlights the importance of monitoring asthma symptoms and working closely school and healthcare.
- Lung Health Navigators are available to provide free personalized support to adults living with asthma and their caregivers
- The Breathe Well, Live Well® program is for adults, particularly young adults, who want to take control of their asthma so that they can lead active, healthy lives.

Advertising Campaign Promotes Cancer Screening to Black Communities

As part of our commitment to addressing racial disparities in healthcare and providing resources to communities disproportionately impacted by lung cancer, our Saved By The Scan program launched a digital advertising campaign to reach Black communities about the lifesaving benefits of lung cancer screening. Currently, only 24% of lung cancer cases are diagnosed early when treatment is more likely to be curative.

Simple Blood Test to Diagnose a Rare Lung Disease

Autoimmune pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (aPAP) is a rare lung disease that prevents oxygen from passing into the bloodstream.
