From: Regina A. Quick Center for the ArtsDear Quick Center Patrons,
We value your support and patronage to the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, and want to keep you informed about a critical matter that has come to our attention.
Recently, we discovered that our @fairfieldquick Instagram account was compromised by an unauthorized individual or group—they have taken over the account, are using a new name, and are sending messages out to our followers accusing them of “Violating Meta Rules.”
As a result, we are concerned about a potential risk targeting valued followers like you. Your security is important to us and we want to ensure that you are aware of the situation and ways to best protect yourself, and your social media accounts from any potential threats.
Whether it looks like your account has been impacted or not, we suggest the following steps to safeguard your profiles:
- Change Your Passwords: Please change all Instagram passwords in the next 24 hours. Ensure the new passwords are strong and unique, consisting of a combination of upper/lower case letters, numbers, and special characters where allowed.
- Password Storage: Keep the new password somewhere safe, like a Password Manager.
- Beware of Hacking Attempts: See attached for one of the many messages a Fairfield-affiliated social media account has received in the last week. If you have received one, please “Report” the account for Spam/Fraud, and then Block the Account that tried messaging you.
- Do Not Click or Respond: Do not click on any links or respond to messages from unfamiliar or suspicious sources. Individuals or groups often use these tactics to deceive followers into revealing personal information or to get access of your accounts.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
