Legislature Set to Finalize Governor's Budget Proposal

The Wyoming Legislature will soon finalize the State's Supplemental Budget. Both the House and Senate have passed versions of the budget, which save more than a billion dollars for future generations. The budget also makes strategic investments in Wyoming's people.

The House and Senate will soon negotiate a final budget and Governor Mark Gordon is appreciative of their work. The savings allow the state to generate investment returns that will keep taxes low for years to come. The budget also addresses inflation and helps citizens by expanding the property tax refund program. The Governor also supports addressing mental and behavioral health service gaps with the budget.

Governor’s Effort to Restore State-Management of Grizzly Bears Advances

In January 2022, Governor Gordon announced that Wyoming had petitioned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to delist the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) grizzly bear population. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has now initiated a 12-month status review of the GYE grizzly bear. "Wyoming has an established framework to provide adequate protection and management of the bear in the future," Governor Gordon said. "With state management, Wyoming remains committed to long term grizzly bear conservation." 

Wyoming Lands World’s Largest Vertical Farming Research Facility

The State Loan and Investment Board (SLIB) recently announced an historic economic development investment, which will support development of the world’s most advanced vertical farming research center in Laramie. The project will support the retention and creation of nearly 200 high-paying jobs in the community.
