Announcement From The Greater Danbury Chamber Of Commerce

Clubs and Organizations

March 20, 2023

From: Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce

Two chambers combine to provide better services, opportunities for growth.

The Brookfield Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce, Inc., are joining together to serve the local businesses of our area, effective March 31, 2023.

The decision to join the two organizations was not made lightly, but in today’s environment it is important to achieve scale and an eye toward the growth of our business sectors. It was with that in mind that the Boards of Directors of both Chambers engaged in a dialogue that concluded with the plan to bring the Chambers together.

Under the leadership of president and C.E.O. P.J. Prunty, the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce will continue its long tradition of serving the Greater Danbury Area and will incorporate many of the initiatives and events that were founded by the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce. These include such events as Best of Brookfield, The Gala, ribbon cuttings and local networking events. As the memberships come together, all will have the benefit of expanded programs, including community events throughout the year.

“The Board of Directors is pleased with the decision to bring together both organizations,” said Martin G. Morgado, chairman of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce. “The integration of both organizations will expand our reach in the local communities that we serve, support business advocacy, and educational offerings."

Marie Miszewski, Chairman of the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, said the combination makes sense for Brookfield businesses.

“Danbury provides a strategic long-term vision for the greater business community while recognizing Brookfield’s existing business base as well as the growth and expansion of new business opportunities.” Miszewski said. “We are excited about coming together with the Greater Danbury Chamber as it will expand networking, education, advocacy and support of businesses both large and small.”

The Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce currently serves the 10 towns of Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, Newtown, New Fairfield, New Milford, Sherman, Redding, and Ridgefield. The Chamber strives to support local and regional economic development efforts, advocates for our members, encourages business investment in our region and greater regional cooperation.

“Our economy is only as strong as our businesses and workforce,” Prunty said. “Working together as a region with our neighboring towns, we can continue to strengthen and grow the Greater Danbury community. We look forward to officially welcoming and serving the members of the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce. Our focus remains to be a one-stop shop for our members’ businesses and non-profits to provide value in the form of both small and large networking events, educational opportunities, workforce and leadership development and many more value-added benefits.”
