April at Wave Hill

With carpets of glory-of-the-snow and other spring blooms brightening the gardens as the month begins, April finishes up with Arbor Weekend, a time-honored tradition in early spring.

Glyndor Gallery Reopens April 22

This Place We Once Remembered features works by former Winter Workspace artists-in-residence that explore history, memory and site. The 2023 Sunroom Project Space program opens with The Condolence Message, an installation by Jae Hi-Ahn (Sat, Apr 22). Exhibiting artist Rebecca Allan, whose show Cultivating Eden is up in Wave Hill House, joins Wave Hill Gardener Sandra Schaller for two events (Apr 13 and Apr 15).

Birding in April includes the monthly bird walk (Sun, Apr 9). Outdoor artmaking returns with the birds as artist Wennie Huang begins a workshop series (Thu, Apr 20) focused on painting potted plants.

Garden Walks and Mushroom Logs

In addition to Sunday afternoon walks led by a Wave Hill Garden Guide, Associate Director of Horticulture Steve Conaway leads a fun, hands-on workshop (Fri, Apr 14) on cultivating edible mushrooms.

Art-Making for Families

Springtime Family Art Projects in April include Clothe Your Imagination (Apr 1, 2),  Rainbow Passage (Apr 8, 9), Shelly Friends (Apr 15, 16), Set Sail! (Apr 22, 23) and Barking Up a Wave Hill Tree (Apr 29, 30).

Honoring Our Trees

Arbor Weekend (Fri, Apr 28 though Sun, Apr 30) celebrates Wave Hill's trees in our gardens and neighborhoods with walks, art-making, a cooking demo, kid-friendly activities and more.
