Art On Wheels
Additional Information

Since 2015 ArtsNET has held (ytd) 737 Art on Wheels (AOW) classes serving over (ytd) 5,292 students. Virtual and in person, art classes provide a creative outlet for senior citizens and individuals, age 17 and up, with limited financial resources, and/or limited mobility due to health issues or transportation challenges.

ArtsNET partners with senior facilities and North Texas SNAP (Special Needs Assistance Partners) to provide classes at their locations. Senior facilities include Evergreen Senior Living, Saginaw Senior Center, North Richland Hills, and Haltom City Senior Centers. Art, culture, and entertainment are vital in addressing mental health and well-being in underserved populations – especially now, with the continuing downstream effects of the pandemic.

Certified instructors guide students with step-by-step instructions to create pieces of art. AOW instructors are highly skilled in utilizing art therapy to meet the needs of all students including those with physical and mental challenges. Our lead instructor has a Masters in Art and Education and has taught in the public schools for over 20 years, working with students age 6-92. Using effective strategies and step-by-step instructions as needed, students are exposed to diverse art mediums ranging from painting or sculpting to performance art such as music or poetry.

Everything is provided: canvas, paints, brushes, and easels.

No art experience is necessary.
