Normal, IL — With Election Day just 12 days away, the Democratic Party of Illinois continues full steam ahead—this time at Illinois State University to encourage young people to get out the vote. Along with ISU College Democrats and DPI campus fellows, DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez and U.S. Representative Eric Sorensen (IL-17), who’s one of DPI’s targeted candidates for Organize Illinois, stressed the importance of every race on the ballot–from the White House, to Congress, to the county board.  

“Empowering the next generation of leaders is critical for DPI’s future, Illinois’s future and our country’s future,” said Chair Lisa Hernandez. “With so much on the line, there’s no better time than now for young people to take action and ensure our state continues to prioritize more opportunity, justice, and possibility. DPI is committed to building an Illinois where every voice is heard.”

“The fired-up crowd at Illinois State shows that our young people are ready to help build a brighter future for all of us this November,” said Congressman Sorensen. “As Illinois’ first LGBTQ+ Representative in Congress, I know how important it is to keep moving forward. And from what I’m hearing from these students, they’re loud and clear: we’re not going back!”

Chair Hernandez and Congressman Sorensen were also joined by U.S. Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-8), ISU College Dems President Delaney Reynolds, McLean County Democrats Chair Patrick Cortesi, State Rep. Sharon Chung (IL-91), State Senator David Koehler (IL-46), McLean County Board District 6 candidate Alex Duffy, DSCC Committeewoman and Knox County Board Member Pam Davidson and ISU student leaders.
