Berlin-Peck Memorial Library - 1st Annual Young Poets and Artists Exhibit

Schools and Libraries

March 3, 2023

From: Berlin-Peck Memorial Library

Berlin-Peck Memorial Library presents:

This April the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library Children’s/Teen Departments will be hosting a poetry and art exhibit on the theme of water! Poetry written by young patrons will be assigned to a youth artist anonymously. On the evening of the opening, we will reveal both the artwork and the poem that inspired it! We will also hold a poetry reading the night of the opening for poets that want to share their work with family and friends. You can participate in both the poetry and art categories or in just one.

Poets

The theme of the poetry/art show is water! Whether it is swimming, drinking, or flooding, water is an incredibly vital part of our lives as people. Sometimes it brings joy and relief, other times sorrow. Your poem should be inspired by water but only use that as a jumping-off point! Feel free to go where your creative mind leads you! Poetry submissions: Students can submit their poems online or in person at the library Children’s Desk. Please submit by March 7th.

Artists

Your piece will be inspired by a poem written by a youth poet. While the theme of the show is water, your piece should be inspired specifically by the poem, however you interpret it! Please submit your interest by handing in this form at the Children’s Desk or submit your interest online by March 7th. We’ll contact you the week of March 5 to pair you with a poem!
