Schools and Libraries

From: Berlin-Peck Memorial LibraryLibrary Director's Message
Hello!
The last days of “summer.” The time for one last hurrah. The calm before the storm that is the first day of school. Finally, some sunshine! (That’s what I’m saying this year.) August can bring a variety of emotions and experiences so I’m going to devote this issue to fun. Who couldn’t use a little extra fun before fall kicks into high gear? Speaking of gear, are you..
Looking for items to add a little fun to the end of summer?
- We can provide your vacation internet. Check out a Wi-Fi hotspot! We have board games, too!
- We can help you host your friends and family. Use our screen and projector, or yard games like connect four and cornhole, available with your library card!
- We can add a little extra to your next outdoor walk with walking poles!
Wrapping up your summer reading?
I just finished a couple of books I really appreciated: The Postcard, a biographical novel based on the author’s family during WWII, and Four Thousand Weeks, a non-fiction title about how we spend our time. We’ve shared some read-alikes on our website for romance, horror, and women’s fiction.
Looking to Get Outside?
We have these new titles in our collection: Beer Hiking New England and Hiking with Kids New England – 50 Great Hikes for Families. Take your children outdoors with our birdwatching kit for children, and it’s never too early to start thinking about next year’s garden!
I wish you a safe and happy August. We look forward to seeing you at the library soon.
Warmly,
Kim
