MADISON, Wis. — After Donald Trump once again doubled down on his lies about Wisconsin and the 2020 election during Tuesday night’s presidential debate, Wisconsin Republican Bryan Steil went right back to work propping up Trump’s election lies and misinformation in Congress.

Bryan Steil has used his post as Chairman of the Committee on House Administration to sow fear and doubt in our elections—and do Donald Trump’s bidding. This week, Steil turned the long-running House Election Observer Program into a tool to spread election misinformation and has introduced several bills over the past four years that burden voters and election officials and would make it more difficult for Americans to vote. Bryan Steil even went so far as to target college students in work-study programs as part of his election denial conspiracies.

“Last week, Bryan Steil campaigned for election denier-in-chief Donald Trump in Milwaukee, and this week he’s back to sowing doubt in our elections in Congress,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Deputy Communications Director Haley McCoy. “From politicizing the Election Observer Program to holding hearings accusing the government of voter suppression, Bryan Steil has made it clear that he would rather prop up Donald Trump’s election lies than actually defend Americans’ right to vote. Wisconsinites in the 1st District deserve a representative who will fight for their rights—not a Donald Trump yes-man.”
