From: Bushnell-Sage LibraryOur featured artist for the month of March is Harvey Kimmelman. The exhibition will run from March 3 to March 31.
An opening reception for this beautiful exhibition of Harvey's work will be held on Sunday, March 5 from 2:30 to 4 pm.
Bruce Coffin, author of The Long Light of Those Days, his account of growing up in Woodstock, Vermont in the 1950s, joins us Saturday, March 11 at 1 p.m. for a reading from his latest, Among Familiar Shadows.
His portraits of these people—including his own family—are loving but unsentimental. Traveling back through time and memory to stand among their familiar shadows, he shows us how they lived, how they talked, how they raised their children—and how they dealt with tragedy.
"I am fascinated by Coffin's ability and determination to recall all the details of Woodstock, its people and the surrounding land. Pure genius. I am reminded of Thornton Wilder's Our Town, the novels of Henry James, the precision of Proust, and the songs of Thoreau. But Coffin's talent and love are all his own. This is a New England elegy that will endure."
