STAFF NEWS
Sinfonietta welcomes Peter Breithaupt as Operations Coordinator. Peter comes to Chicago from San Antonio where he taught courses in music history and applied percussion at the University of Texas at San Antonio; worked for Texas Folklife, a statewide non-profit organization, directing the Apprenticeships in the Folk and Traditional Arts Program; and freelanced professionally as a percussionist, drummer, and 5-string & tenor banjo player. He also performed as a section percussionist with the San Antonio Philharmonic throughout its inaugural 2022-2023 season. As a PhD candidate in ethnomusicology at the University of Texas at Austin, he studied local and global music cultures of Tanzania. As part of his work in Tanzania, he has performed throughout Europe, the United States, and East Africa with Msafiri Zawose, one of Tanzania’s foremost Gogo musicians. More recently, he had the opportunity to compose, produce, and score the music for Maasai Remix, an award-winning documentary film that explores Indigenous creativity in addressing challenges to Maasai pastoralist livelihoods in Tanzania. Having both grown up in Michigan, he and his wife are excited to be back in the Midwest.

We also congratulate former Assistant Controller Rae Lambrix on her promotion to Director of Institutional Advancement and welcome Farland Jenkins as Director of Finance.
