Greetings from the Governor and First Gentleman

This season is a time of celebration and reflection. As a Christian, Christmas is a time for me and my family to reflect on our faith and the good news of Jesus' birth. Other faiths celebrate the season with holidays like Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.

As you begin to plan your own celebrations and traditions, I hope that you will join Bryon and I during the annual Christmas at the Capitol event. The decorations, the smell of the trees, and the atmosphere are unlike anything else you will see.

Tree Lighting

The Grand Lighting Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 7:00 PM. Governor Noem and special guests will entertain those in attendance and kick off 2023 Christmas at the Capitol!

As always, a special guest from "up North" will make an appearance at the end of the evening. Children can write their "letters to Santa" at home then bring them to the 1st floor of the Capitol and place them in the "Letters to Santa" mailbox (no postage required), where they will be delivered to the North Pole before Christmas by special little helpers.
