City Of American Canyon Manager's Update - December 16, 2022

Government and Politics

December 19, 2022

From: City Of American Canyon

Happy Holidays, American Canyon!

Hopefully you are able to connect with loved ones during this special time of year. Amid the bustle, it's important to celebrate accomplishments and reflect on what truly matters. I was heartened to see the community’s holiday spirit shining through the wind and rain at the Magic of the Season event two weeks ago.  While other communities cancelled their festivities due to inclement weather, our residents endured and persevered with glee. Thank you to all of the City staff, volunteers, participants, vendors, sponsors—and of course, our partner, the American Canyon Chamber of Commerce—for your support.

This time of year can be challenging for everyone. My holiday wish is for compassion and grace to all our friends, neighbors and strangers alike. Our physical City Hall will be lightly staffed through the end of the year as City staff take a well-deserved break. Not to worry—almost all City services are available 24/7/365 at our Virtual City Hall.

Please be safe and kind. Thank you and take care!

Am Can Junior Wolves Are National Youth Football Champions

The American Canyon Junior Wolves, eight and under football team, brought home the National Youth Football Champions title last month. In their final contest, they defeated the Parkhill Colorado Falcons 21-6, securing their place as the National Champions! The team went undefeated (8-0) in their regular season. Congratulations to the team, their families, the coaching staff led by Head Coach Richard Sifuentes, and the Junior Wolves Youth Football organization led by Ian Anderson. Your dedication and commitment to supporting our local youth and keeping Am Can the best place to live and play is greatly appreciated.

Special Message from Recology

Please do not blow or rake leaves into the street! Street sweepers cannot effectively collect sticks, branches, or piles of leaves. Raking leaves into the gutter can lead to localized flooding and negatively affects our local environment. Please avoid blowing, raking, or piling leaves into the gutter and instead utilize your green organics cart.
