From: City Of MelroseThe City of Melrose is pleased to announce it has been selected to participate in the 2022-2024 Community First Partnership, offered locally by Mass Save Sponsor, National Grid, to increase participation in energy efficiency programs. As a result of Melrose’s participation in the new program, the City is launching the Melrose Energy Challenge to encourage residents to make their homes and buildings more efficient.
“We’re honored and grateful to be named a Community First Partner by National Grid,” said Mayor Paul Brodeur. “This timely partnership comes during a period of inflation, which has been characterized by rising winter heating costs. I encourage all of Melrose to engage with the Melrose Energy Challenge, which will provide opportunities for renters, landlords, homeowners, businesses, and nonprofits to save money and energy.”
As a Community First Partner, the City of Melrose is eligible for up to $25,000 in funding each year for three years to support the Melrose Energy Challenge, as well as marketing and technical support from the Mass Save Sponsors.
Melrose aims to increase rates of insulation, air sealing and heating system upgrades for renters and landlords, low- and moderate-income households, and small businesses by expanding awareness of and improving access to the incentives offered by the Mass Save Sponsors.
The City recently selected Mass Save partner, HomeWorks Energy, to help Melrose residents with no-cost energy assessments, weatherization work, and access to Mass Save rebate and incentive opportunities like 75-100% off recommended insulation and 100% off air sealing.
“Knowing where to start on saving energy can be overwhelming for many people,” said Martha Grover, Sustainability Manager for the City of Melrose. “We’ve put the Melrose Energy Challenge together as a program that will have something for everyone and we’re here to help along the way.”
To join the Melrose Energy Challenge, the first step is to request a no-cost Home Energy Assessment with HomeWorks Energy at HWE.Works/Melrose or by calling 781-305-3319. More information about how residents and businesses can reduce greenhouse gas emissions will be released soon through the City’s Energy Challenge efforts.
