Mayor Joven Asks For Prayers For Earthquake Victims

A series of powerful earthquakes struck southern Turkey in the morning of February 6, 2023. These earthquakes have caused widespread destruction and collapsed buildings, with likely over 200,000 deaths and injuries in Turkey and Syria.

From Mayor Joven’s Desk:

A series of powerful earthquakes struck southern Turkey in the morning of February 6, 2023. These earthquakes have caused widespread destruction and collapsed buildings, with likely over 200,000 deaths and injuries in Turkey and Syria.

The Epicenter of the quake was in Pazarick in the district of Kahramanmaras. Several tremors were felt intensely in the surrounding provinces and cities such as Hatay, Osmaniye, Adiyaman, Gaziantep, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, Malatya, Kilis and Adana.

Mayor Joven meet with Karais Oruc & Mehmet Akcay. Both have family members in Southern Turkey. They, as have many others of the Turkish Community in Odessa, have been directly and indirectly affected by the devastation caused by these earthquakes.

Mayor Joven’s office along with the Turkish and Syrian Community in Odessa are asking for unified prayer over the devastation in Southern Turkey and Syria from the earthquakes. We are asking all congregations and faiths to come together both at home and at your designated churches, and please pray for survivors and for the injured in Turkey and Syria.

We pray for relief efforts. It’s in hard times like these, that our humility must be in full display as children of God.
