Sergeant Yuri Herrera has been with the Odessa Police Department for 8 years. She is among many veterans in the department that have served our country.

Sgt. Herrera served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years. She fought in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. She also earned Accelerated Advancement to E-4, out of tech school.

When asked why she enlisted, Sgt. Herrera said, "I wanted to provide a better life for my son, Mateo." He is pictured to the left.
