Three Councilmembers Sworn into Office City of Palmdale Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem Selected
PALMDALE - The City Council had 3 members sworn into office at the year’s final meeting on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. Laura Bettencourt of District 3, Eric Ohlsen of District 4, and Andrea Alarcón of District 5 officially took office to begin their new terms.

Laura Bettencourt was elected to her first term on May 19, 2009, and reelected on November 3, 2009, November 8, 2016, and again on November 6, 2018. Eric Ohlsen was elected to his first term on November 8, 2022. Andrea Alarcón was elected to her first term on City Council on November 8, 2022.

In a historic moment, Laura Bettencourt was selected (by drawing) to serve as Palmdale’s Mayor.  Andrea Alarcón was chosen unanimously by the City Council to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. For the first time in Palmdale’s history, two women serve simultaneously in these City leadership roles.
