REAKING NEWS: A group of Gasparilla pirates recently attempted to break into City Hall early - with the intent of stealing the key to the city and causing general mayhem. These efforts were foiled by Alcaldesa, “The Big Dog,” who proved to be more than a match for the swashbuckling intruders. Watch on Facebook and share with your networks.  

New Water Conservation Workshop Series - “Water Smart New Year’s Resolution: In 2023, Resolve to Save Water” 

The Water Department has launched a water conservation workshop series to provide valuable tips & tricks to save both water and money. Attend one or all of the below events to learn more about water conservation: 

-Tampa’s Water Use Restrictions Workshop on January 10 from 1 pm – 2 pm at Jan Platt Library 

-Understanding Your Irrigation System Controller Workshop on January 11 from 7 pm – 8 pm at Jan Platt Library 

-Checking for Indoor Leaks Workshop on January 20 from 3 pm – 4 pm at C Blythe Andrews Library 

-Checking for Indoor Leaks Workshop on January 24 from 11 am – 12 pm at North Tampa Library 

-Understanding Your Irrigation System Controller Workshop on January 27 from 10:30 am – 11:30 am at North Tampa Library 

Tampa Fire Rescue Health and Safety Fair 

To bring helpful resources to the community and promote awareness, Tampa Fire Rescue is hosting a Health and Safety Fair on January 19 from 5 pm – 8 pm at Henry & Ola Park (502 W Henry Ave). This family-friendly event is free and open to the public. 

2023 Gasparilla Invasion & Parade

Over 300,000 spectators are expected to line the streets near Bayshore Blvd to watch the Ashley Children's Gasparilla Parade presented by Chick-fil-A on January 21 and the Seminole Hard Rock Gasparilla Pirate Fest on January 28. Visit our City of Tampa website for information on event details, street closures, parking, parade routes, and other information to help you enjoy the festivities safely. Tickets are still available for Gasparilla Invasion Brunch at the Tampa Convention Center and may be purchased here

Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful After Gasparilla Cleanup

Join Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful for our After Gasparilla Cleanup on January 29 at 8 am to help pick up beads and trash left behind from the festivities. Groups will be stationed in four locations: Fred Ball Park, Bern's Park, Kate Jackson Park, and Bank of America.

Buccaneers Banner Drop at City Hall

The Buccaneers are headed to the playoffs! Join Tampa Fire Rescue, Mayor Jane Castor, Brian Ford, and Captain Fear as they drop a Buccaneers banner on City Hall on Wednesday, January 11 at 2 pm. The Buccaneers Street Team and cheerleaders will also be in attendance to help celebrate. Mayor Castor challenges residents and other regional leaders to "raise the flags" and show their support for the Buccaneers throughout Tampa Bay. 

Job of the Week

The Logistics and Asset Management Division is hiring to fill multiple Fleet Mechanic II positions to perform a variety of technical maintenance and major repair tasks of average difficulty on automotive, construction and/or special vehicles and equipment that are gasoline, diesel and/or propane powered. Qualifications include graduation from an accredited high school or vocational school and one year of experience in performing routine maintenance and minor repair work on automotive, construction and special vehicles and equipment that are gasoline, diesel, and/or propane powered, including six months experience in performing technical maintenance and major repair tasks.
