GET INVOLVED

Thanksgiving Holiday

In observance of Thanksgiving, City of Tampa offices will be closed on November 24 and 25, 2022. Residential customers who normally receive service on Thursday will receive service on Friday, November 25. Customers who normally receive service on Friday will receive service on Saturday, November 26. Regular Solid Waste collection service schedules will resume on Monday, November 28.

#ShopSmallTampa

Don’t forget to shop small this holiday season! The City is featuring small businesses in its #ShopSmallTampa directory to encourage support for local businesses on Small Business Saturday, which takes place on November 26. Consumers will be able to view the #ShopSmallTampa online directory starting on November 24 at tampa.gov/ShopSmallTampa. The campaign ends on December 31.

Winter Village at Curtis Hixon Park

Celebrate the holiday season in Tampa's Downtown at Winter Village, presented by the Tampa Bay Lightning, in Curtis Hixon Park! Until January 4, the park will be transformed with the sights, sounds, and activities of the holidays for children and adults of all ages – like ice skating, curling, shops, live music, and food!

Bridges to Business Subcontractor Outreach and Networking Event

Are you a subcontractor interested in working with the City or expanding your network? On December 15 from 2 pm – 5 pm at the Tampa Convention Center, meet and network with the City's Contract Administration Department, Purchasing Department, and Equal Business Opportunity staff in addition to partner agencies, sureties, insurance providers, and dozens of prime contractors for City of Tampa construction projects. Opportunities for construction subcontractors include general contractors, design-builders, and job order contractors.

Holiday Harbour Tree Lighting

Kick off the holiday season at the Tampa Convention Center with the Friends of the Riverwalk for the annual Holiday Harbour Tree Lighting on Monday, November 28 from 6 pm – 8 pm. This event is free and open to the public to watch the symbolic “flip of the switch” on this year’s floating 35-foot-tall Christmas tree. There will be food trucks, a DJ, vendor activations, and more.

Forest Hills Park Groundbreaking

Join Mayor Jane Castor, Tampa City Council, City staff, and local leaders as they break ground at Forest Hills Park on November 30 at 10:30 am. The project includes stormwater and recreation improvements to the park site. The existing drainage ditch will be converted into a larger basin with safer slopes and increased capacity. The basin will be a usable lawn when dry. Material excavated to create the basin will be used to construct a multipurpose field (football, soccer, lacrosse, etc.) and rebuild sports courts at higher elevations to reduce flooding (basketball, tennis, pickleball, racquetball).  The project also includes a 0.6-mile paved fitness trail with seven ADA-accessible exercise stations.
