Mayor Jane Castor, Tampa City Council, the Tampa Bay Juneteenth Coalition, and community partners gathered at Perry Harvey Sr. Park last week to sign an Executive Order, officially designating Juneteenth as an official City of Tampa holiday. City of Tampa employees can now take the day of June 19th each year to reflect and celebrate Juneteenth with family and friends.

First Day of Early Voting
Today, October 24, is the first day of early voting in Hillsborough County. Early Voting gives you the flexibility to vote when and where it's most convenient for you. As long as you're registered to vote in Hillsborough County, you can vote in any Early Voting site that is open. (This is different from Election Day voting, when you must vote in the polling place assigned to your precinct.) Visit votehillsborough.gov to learn more, find a site, and more.

Storm Vegetative Debris Drop-Off Sites
Our Solid Waste team is working 7 days a week to collect Hurricane Ian storm debris from your curb. If you'd prefer to drop off your debris, you can bring it to one of our two drop-off sites at 22nd St Park (7801 N 22nd Street) or Gadsden Park (6901 S MacDill Ave). The sites are open Monday through Saturday from 7 am - 3 pm. Remember: storm-related vegetative debris includes bushes, tree branches, palm fronds, leaves, etc. 

Rental and Move-in Assistance Program (RMAP)
The City of Tampa’s Rental and Move-in Assistance Program (RMAP) provides residents with financial assistance that may include but is not limited to security deposits, first and last month’s rent, and/or an ongoing monthly rental subsidy. This is a gap assistance program intended to provide relief to renters across our city who are facing financial hardship due to rent increases. The City of Tampa’s Housing & Community Development division will be accepting new applications every Wednesday and Thursday, until further notice. Note: The program has received widespread attention since it started. Once you submit your application, please be patient as our staff works to process your case as efficiently as possible. In general, most applicants receive an update regarding their application status within 14 business days.

Job of the Week
The Water Department is hiring a Water Quality Assurance Officer to plan and direct water quality activities to comply with current and proposed federal and state drinking water regulations and internal Water Department standards. This position will also plan and direct research activities that will provide continuous improvement in water treatment involving source water, treatment, chemical application, microbiological monitoring, and other areas that affect water quality.
