Future Land Use Assessment Virtual Public Meeting

Transforming Tampa's Tomorrow in a thoughtful and sustainable way requires input and insight from all stakeholders, which is why the City of Tampa and the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission invite all members of the public to an upcoming meeting to discuss land use, growth, and future development through the year 2045. On September 1st at 6 pm, join this virtual meeting to learn more about future land use categories and long-term growth policies and how they should be improved to meet our current and future needs.

Southeast Seminole Heights Stormwater Project Update

The road closure on N Florida Ave has been extended to October 7th due to the Southeast Seminole Heights Stormwater Project. This work is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to invest in neighborhoods and upgrade essential infrastructure. Please continue to support Florida Ave businesses as they remain open. Traffic to local businesses is considered local traffic.  

Apply for Mayor’s Youth Corps

The Tampa Mayor's Youth Corps is hiring for the class of 2023. This is a great opportunity for high school students in Tampa to build their resumes, get involved, and make friends. Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors who attend a public or private high school located within the Tampa city limits are eligible to apply. Join a virtual info session on September 27th at 6 pm to learn more.

Hispanic Heritage Month is Here

You’re invited to celebrate Tampa’s Hispanic roots and influential Hispanic leaders in our community at the 34th Annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration on October 11th at 11 am at the Tampa Theatre. Mr. Benigno Lopez, the 2022 Ida S. Baker Diversity Educator of the Year, will be the featured guest speaker. Sarykarmen Rivera of Rumba 106.5 will emcee the event. Toddlers in Transition (TTNT)

Are you a parent looking for a program to join with your mini-me? Join Tampa Toddlers in Transition for a fun-filled parent/tot experience where children ages 2-5 years old will gain social interaction while also beginning to learn their ABC’s and numbers, enhance their fine motor skills, and explore arts & crafts, music and balance exercises. Participants must be potty-trained, and parents must stay and enjoy the hands-on activities with their children. This program is free with a Rec Card where programs are offered (Cordelia B. Hunt Center, Cyrus Greene Center, DeSoto Center, Dr. MLK Center, and Rowlett Activity Center). Please contact Michelle Keeler for more information or call 813-242-5307.

Job of the Week

The Solid Waste Department is looking for a WTE Plant Operator I to perform technical work monitoring and controlling boiler, turbine and auxiliary waste to energy plant equipment during an assigned shift. This is skilled, technical work at the Waste To Energy (WTE) plant and is a bargaining unit position.
