The 2024 Festival returns to its traditional venue on Elk Avenue.

Schedule:

Friday, August 2, 2024:

5:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Highlifters

Highlifters play Heavyweight Mountain Soul music. The funky vibes and pulsing pockets are guaranteed to get you into boogie central.  The CB band consists of harmonic melodies from Stephanie Stephenson, funky trumpet lines and solos by Paul Barney, and a rhythm section of Aaron Tomcak on guitar and vocals, Brian Schneider on bass and vocals, and Chris Penfield on drums.  A collection of original compositions and covers make up their organic grooves.

Saturday, August 3, 2024:

10:00 am: Art Alley Craft Tent:

Families are invited to visit the Art Alley tent to create their own works of art at the festival.  Hands-on, art-play activities are facilitated free of charge.

Activities:

Fiber Arts - Weave a kumihimo bracelet

Jewelry -  Design your own wire and bead adornment

Pottery - Use air dry clay to make your own pottery

Painting - Use pedal power to spin an abstract painting

Painting - Make a colorful frisbee with spin art machine

Painting - Color a puzzle, or paisley bandana

Painting - Using squirt guns, paint like Jackson Pollock

10:00 am - 1:00 pm: Rachel Van Slyke

VanSlykes unique combination of accessible, highly listenable tunes with no holds barred lyrics and a refusal to be bound by conventional genres have garnered her a following who are at once enamored and empowered by her bold songwriting and gutsy performances. Succeeding on her own terms, her songs emotionally resonate with fans across the spectrum based upon their edgy intensity and genuine intimacy.

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm: Black Canyon Ramblers

The Black Canyon Ramblers(TM) band is based out of the Gunnison Valley of Colorado, home to one of the most spectacular geological formations in the United States: the Black Canyon. The Ramblers specialize in traditional bluegrass, folk, country and americana acoustic music and have played numerous venues such as the I-Bar in Gunnison, the Mallardi Theatre in Crested Butte, opened for the L'il Smokies at the Crested Butte Chili and Beer Fest, opened for the Wailers at ambush Ranch (Crested Butte), the Double Shot Cyclery in Gunnison and other local venues.

3:00 pm - 6:00 pm: Figs

Crested Butte based band, consists of Gene James, Alex Fenlon, and Ian Scott. Playing an array of covers and originals in the genres of funk, blues, roots, and rock n roll. Everything from the Allman Brothers, The Meters, The Wood Brothers, to the Grateful Dead.

Sunday, August 4, 2024:

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm: Theatrical Make Up Demo

Join Firebird Theatre Co. as we give a demo on special effects makeup. We will teach tips/tricks in a 30 minute demo on how to make fake blood and create a realistic-looking laceration and burn wounds. You'll learn how to use simple household ingredients to create garish effects that will scare and delight your friends and family. Learn these fun skills to elevate your next costume party or halloween costume!

Demo is part of the Artist Enrichment Grant received by Firebird Theatre

12:00 pm - 2:00 pm: Julian Young

Julian Young, singer-songwriter, creates a mesmerizing fusion of jazz, rock, and contemporary styles. Their lyrics offer deep insights into the human experience through soulful vocals and the ability to play organ, piano and guitar.

2:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Wendy Fisher - DJ Red

DJ loves to get the dance party started. Former Olympic Skier, Wendy Fisher will get you grooving.
