November Spotlight

Hello, Americantowns!

The holiday season is in full swing and there are activities to enjoy everywhere you look. Here at the Darien Library, join us for a whole month’s worth of holiday events, from wrapping seasonal gifts with friends to watching classic holiday movies in the Community Room.

No matter what you celebrate this month, the Readers’ Services team wishes everyone a magically magnificent month of December and a Happy New Year!

Look no further than Book Lovers by Emily Henry, which has made its way into my top romance picks for the year. Our book-editing expert heroine, Nora, finds herself recently heartbroken in New York City and decides to take a last-minute girls’ trip with her pregnant sister.

Triple Cross by James Patterson is right up there with Patterson’s early Alex Cross books and is a page-turner from the start!

Alex Cross, a consultant for the FBI and DC Metro, and his old pal John Sampson are called into the office to investigate a series of murders that are more than puzzling. They learn that they are dealing with a serial killer dubbed "The Family Man” who only strikes at night, triggers no alarms, and leaves no DNA evidence.

In On Tyranny, Timothy Snyder uses twenty concise lessons to educate readers about recognizing and resisting the emergence of authoritarian governance. Drawing on his expertise as a historian, Snyder uses twentieth-century European history, literature, and political thought to argue that societies can fall no matter how sturdy they seem. He says understanding these downfalls is key to avoid repeating them.
