PENNSYLVANIA — David McCormick is once again saying he opposes the program that allows Medicare to negotiate lower prescription drug costs for millions of seniors in America according to a new report from the Pennsylvania Independent

The program is projected to save seniors $400 per year on many critical, life-saving drugs.

Pennsylvania Independent: GOP Senate nominee Dave McCormick opposes Medicare negotiating lower drug prices

  • McCormick has previously called for a rollback of the Inflation Reduction Act, which authorizes the government to negotiate with pharmaceutical companies.
  • In the interview […] McCormick said: “The best way to ensure that we get drug prices down and health care costs down is to make sure we have adequate competition. And having the government negotiate pharmaceutical prices, call me a skeptic[…]”
  • McCormick […] said: “Generally speaking, I’m very skeptical of big government and particularly the Biden administration or the Harris administration negotiating new drug prices[…]”
  • A June 2023 West Health-Gallup poll found 83% of Americans support authorizing Medicare to negotiate drug prices.
  • In October 2023, McCormick told right-wing radio host John Fredericks he wanted to repeal much of the Inflation Reduction Act: “What happened under Biden, with these huge, enormous pieces of legislation, the Inflation Reduction Act […] We’ve got to roll that back.”
  • A page on McCormick’s campaign website called “Lowering Costs for Pennsylvanians” has said only “Coming soon!” for months, American Bridge pointed out.
