ST PAUL – On Sep 16th, Minnesota DFL Chair Ken Martin released the following statement regarding the reports detailing years of appalling violence and child abuse committed by Rep. Jeff Dotseth against his ex-wife and her son.

DFL Chair Ken Martin: “The appalling violence and domestic abuse described in these documents is disqualifying for elected office – and so is Jeff Dotseth’s decision to hide this from the public. No one who has engaged repeatedly in domestic violence, child abuse, and threats of murder has any business writing the laws that govern our state. The fact that the ex-stepson still fears for his safety today underscores how disqualifying Dotseth’s years of violent and unhinged behavior are for an elected official.”

“Dotseth’s Republican colleagues in the House owe the public immediate answers about what they knew and when they knew it. The court documents show that Rep. Dotseth’s colleagues were aware of Rep. Dotseth’s arrest – shockingly, one of them was one of the officers who responded to the 911 call. It is outrageous that Minnesota Republicans chose to hide this information from the public in 2022 when Dotseth was running for the Legislature.”
