Photos are needed of the production of the Bricolage murals under Lake Shore Drive at Bryn Mawr and Foster Avenues. Any detailed photos of mural elements and photos of people working on the murals are sought. Any community residents who have special tiles installed in the murals are encouraged to send a photo of themselves with their tile. Send photos to [email protected].
We are seeking these photos for a video about the creation and installation of the murals produced by the Edgewater community in conjunction with the Chicago Public Art Group. These murals may be lost in the pending reconstruction of Lake Shore Drive and the Edgewater Historical Society is seeking to preserve these unique community works of art and using this video to educate relevant stakeholders.
These murals were one of the greatest community building activities in Edgewater’s history and numerous community members gathered at the EHS Museum and St. Andrew’s Church to create their tiles. Also noteworthy, the Foster mural has a special focus on Chicago’s Indigenous people titled Indian Land Dancing.
