PENNSYLVANIA — On Oct 1st, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Maurice Cobb joined state legislators to continue the Pants on Fire tour with a press conference calling out David McCormick’s dishonest record.

They highlighted McCormick’s lies about where he lives and where he’s from, his anti-choice agenda including support for an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest, and his record of investments in China.

“David McCormick has a record of putting profits over Pennsylvanians to protect his own bottomline,” said state Representative Aerion Abney. “He invested in China’s largest fentanyl producer the same year fentanyl killed more than 4,000 Pennsylvanians and fentanyl seizures in Pennsylvania increased by 346%.”

“David McCormick has built his fortune by selling out Pennsylvania workers,” said Maurice Cobb, Secretary-Treasurer of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO. “Under his leadership, his companies have killed and outsourced hundreds of jobs, leaving Pennsylvania workers hung out to dry while he raked in millions.”

As women’s right to make decisions about their own bodies was being ripped away, David McCormick celebrated,” said state Representative Lisa Borowski. “He said the overturning of Roe v. Wade would make him ‘very, very happy’ and called the decision a ‘huge victory.’ Pennsylvania can’t afford to have McCormick be another vote for a national abortion ban that would strip away rights from Pennsylvania women.

David McCormick supports an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest.

• When asked directly in a 2022 debate whether he believed there should be exceptions for abortion in the cases of rape, incest, or life of the mother, McCormick responded only “in the very rare instances there should be exceptions for the life of the mother.”

• Before the Dobbs decision leaked, McCormick said he would be a “stalwart opponent of abortion.”

• McCormick said he would be “very, very happy” about Roe being overturned.
• McCormick repeatedly praised the leaked Supreme Court opinion draft overturning Roe as a “huge victory” and “huge step forward.”
