Summer camps are filling up fast

This summer we are offering over 51 camps over 10 weeks from June 12th to August 18th. Topics range from the Depths of the Ocean to the Stellar Heights of Outer Space and everything in between. We are more than 80% full - don't miss out on a unique summer camp experience, and register your child soon! Please call the museum for scholarships or financial assistance requests.

Spring Apprentice Applications are Open

Call for Legos!

Consider donating your unwanted lego pieces and sets to the museum so they can be used for free walk-in build sessions during our open hours.

Updates and News from the Whitney Workshop....

Parading Around with Celebrations Abound!

As a part of a growing partnership, we participated in the Lunarfest Parade and events hosted by the Yale-China Association.

We marched alongside other great organizations in our community, everyone from Edgewood and Clinton Avenue Schools, the Ely Center for Contemporary Art, Long Wharf Theatre, Wu Dang Fu Academy, and many others!

We are so grateful that this day was met with joy, artistic expression, and supporting the Chinese community.

New Haven Museum Wishing Tree

Praying for good luck at a Wishing Tree during the first few days of the Lunar New Year is a long-honored tradition. Participants write their wish on a piece of paper and tie it to an orange (in our case a ping-pong ball!) Legend has it that if the orange successfully lodges in the tree’s branches without falling back to earth, the wish will come true.

Stop by the New Haven Museum to write and hang up your wish on the Wishing Tree at 114 Whitney Avenue.

Building Community One Stitch at a Time

The quilters have arrived!

Last month we hosted the first meeting of Quilt Club New Haven. Quilters, both experienced and first-timers from all over the state participated in the event. They learned to make small lavender-scented pillows and made plans for a community quilt. They will meet once a month in the Carter Studio. At each meeting, they will explore different skills and projects.

The next meeting will be on February 19th. Quilters of every experience level are invited to participate!

We served over 14,000 children through school programs

631 individuals attended summer camps from 96 zip codes

We employed 94 apprentices from 26 zip codes

What’s next?

Our workshop continues to make our materials, tools, and models more accessible. New upgrades to our ceramics workshop will provide more opportunities for apprentices and visitors to learn techniques in ceramic fabrication. Your donation to the Annual Fund supports our ability to adapt as we invest in the broader community.
