Fact Check: Ct Has Among The Lowest Utility Rates In Northeast

Hartford, CT –  Bob Stefanowski continues to make false claims about Connecticut utility rates. But the facts show that CT has some of the lowest rates in the Northeast.

    Connecticut among the lowest electric rates in the Northeast – lower than Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island. [CT Insider, 10/29/22]

    The state’s Millstone deal “looks even better now” as it’s fixed price agreed to in the 2019 contract helps consumers avoid commodity price swings and led to a “significant” drop in electrical rates that took place in September.  [Hartford Courant, 5/31/22]

    Governor Lamont requires companies to help protect consumers from big market spikes, making Connecticut utility rates among the lowest in New England. [WBUR, 9/8/22]

    In November 2021, the state of Connecticut expanded electric utility bill assistance and directed utility companies to offer COVID assistance payment plans. [NBC CT, 11/5/21]
