In celebration of Independence Day, the Florida Democratic Party has issued the following statement:

“Nearly 250 years ago today, our founders stood up in the face of tyranny and said ‘no more.” As we celebrate Independence Day this year, we do so with the threat of tyranny hanging over our heads once again. With an out of control Supreme Court and an unhinged Republican Party trying to turn the presidency into a monarchy, we find ourselves at a crossroads - we can let our country slide into a fascist dictatorship, or we can double down on democracy, justice, and our fundamental human rights.

“When asked what kind of country America would be, Benjamin Franklin famously said ‘a republic, if you can keep it.’ It’s our responsibility to do everything possible to keep that republic alive today - and that starts with re-electing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris this November.”
