From: Georgetown Bighorn Sheep FestivalThe second Saturday in November each year, Georgetown Colorado celebrates one of the biggest and oldest bighorn sheep herds in the state of Colorado. Georgetown honors this treasured animal and helps visitors learn about the habits and nature of these home-grown, high altitude rock climbers of the Rockies. This family friendly festival has something for everyone!
Enjoy a free, family-friendly festival with the Town of Georgetown and Colorado Parks and Wildlife as you learn more about Bighorn Sheep and enjoy activities throughout the day!
Schedule of Events:
10am - 3pm: Bighorn Sheep Viewing
Watch Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep on a nearby hillside. Spotting scopes will bring the action into clear view while you learn about Bighorn Sheep biology and behavior.

10am - 12pm and 1pm – 3pm: Bighorn Archery Instruction + Target Shooting
Join trained instructors and learn how to shoot a bow and arrow in a safe and fun environment (weather permitting).

10am - 1:30pm: Bighorn Sheep Puppet Craft
Craft a Bighorn Sheep puppet with us! Bring your creativity; we’ll provide the supplies!

10:30am - 1:30pm: Face Painting
Complimentary face painting for all children during the festival by Katharyn Grant of Face Painting Denver.

11:30am: Bighorn Hokey Pokey
Learn about Bighorn behavior with a familiar childhood dance and meet Elbert the Colorado Parks and Wildlife mascot.

12pm - 1pm: Hotel de Paris Museum
Watchable Wildlife: Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep – The Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep is Colorado’s State Mammal and provides an excellent opportunity to view some of Colorado’s amazing wildlife!
Come learn about Bighorn Sheep biology and behavior and tips for watching these amazing animals during their annual rut (mating season).
Tours of the Museum are available from 10am – 4pm ($10/adult).

Warm up with a campfire at Strousse Park and get your very own gourmet s’mores kit to take home!

Annual Bighorn Photo Contest:
Viewers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite image or upload a photo! Winners will be announced on the Bighorn Sheep Festival Facebook Page
10:45am, 12:15pm, 1:45pm, 3:15pm, 5:00pm, 6:30pm, 8:00pm: Georgetown Loop Railroad
Enjoy a train ride aboard the Georgetown Loop Railroad as the Holiday Season kicks off with special Santa’s Rocky Mountain Adventure and Lighted Forest themed train rides! All trains depart from the Georgetown Devil’s Gate Depot.
Seating is limited, and trains do sell out. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance as walk up tickets are welcome but not guaranteed.
