Glenn Youngkin Goes To RNC With A Failed Track Record And Zero Accomplishments In Virginia

Government and Politics

July 15, 2024

On July 15, 2024 Night, Glenn Youngkin will speak at the Republican National Convention. DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker shared the following statement:

“Just a few years ago, Republicans and the media praised Youngkin as a “rising star” in the party. Nobody says that anymore because he hasn’t accomplished anything as governor,” DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker said. “After voters rejected his plan to ban abortion by electing Democrats to take control of the state legislature in 2023, it is clear that Virginians want a change and reject Republican policies that push us back by generations, not move us forward into a brighter future.”

Since Youngkin won’t say any of this in his speech, we want to remind you of his record:

- In 2023, voters rejected Virginia Republicans’ plan – led by Youngkin – to ban abortion by giving Democrats full control of the General Assembly.

- In March, Youngkinvetoed a bill to increase minimum wage, which thousands of Virginians rely on to provide for their families.

- In April, hevetoed a bill that would have provided paid family medical leaveto millions of hard-working Virginians.

- In May, hevetoed a popular billto protect access to birth control.

- The NAACPfiled a lawsuit against Youngkinafter his administration failed to provide public records to explain how it decides whether to restore voting rights of convicted felons who have completed their sentences.

- He attempted to build an unpopular, expensive arenathat would have benefited billionaires over working families and failed miserably because he refused to work with Democratic leaders.

- He has endorsed and campaigned for gubernatorial candidates who have run on Trump’s election lies, including Kari Lake and Tudor Dixon.
