From: Goodspeed Musicals
An important announcement from the Artistic Director
To Members of the Reviewing Media –
Our Terris Theatre in Chester closed in late 2019 following a production of A Connecticut Christmas Carol, which many of you had the opportunity to enjoy. After over three years, we are preparing to reopen our important developmental space later this year with two new musicals. It is our hope to further expand programming at the Terris in future seasons.
This year, and for the first time in the history of the Terris Theatre, we are inviting our colleagues in the reviewing media to join us as we shape new musical theatre works in their earliest stages. We invite you to participate in the process by providing your reviews of these developmental productions. We believe that your insight and unbiased opinion can be useful to our creative teams as they develop their work.
This is a momentous step for Goodspeed but one which we expect will result in greater awareness of the new works development process and the investment in new work, which has long been Goodspeed’s hallmark. If you do choose to join us, I ask that you keep in mind that most Terris shows have never before been seen by an audience. They represent the work of creators in whom we have invested and stories which we believe deserve to be heard. We ask you to offer your thoughts in the spirit of constructive criticism.
Carol Giroux will send out invitations for the press performances at the Terris, as she does for the Goodspeed. If you’d like to mark your calendars now, the dates are:
Here You Come Again: August 2 at 7:30 p.m., August 3 at 7:30 p.m., August 5 at 3:00 p.m.
Private Jones: November 1 at 7:30 p.m., November 2 at 7:30 p.m., November 4 at 3:00 p.m.
As always, we appreciate the time and effort that you put into attending and reviewing theatre across Connecticut and look forward to seeing you soon.
