LANSING, MI - On July 12, 2024, Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist II released the following statements on the passing of former state Representative Tim Sneller: 

Governor Whitmer Statement

“I’m heartbroken to hear about the untimely passing of my friend, Tim Sneller. Representative Sneller was a lifelong public servant whose career spanned three decades as a staffer and elected official. As one of the first openly gay Michiganders to serve in the state legislature, he fought hard to expand civil rights and build a more welcoming Michigan for all. We will remember Rep. Sneller not only for his strong, bipartisan legislative record but also his character. A proud champion for labor, he loved his district and went out of his way to remain accessible to the people he represented. I am grateful I had the chance to work with him to get things done, and I was looking forward to partnering with him again as he was running for a seat in the House. My thoughts are with Tim’s loved ones and all of us who were lucky enough to call him a friend and colleague.”
