Governor Shapiro Orders US, Commonwealth Flags to Half-Staff in Observance of Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance

Harrisburg, PA – On Sep 10th, in accordance with the United States flag code and the President’s proclamation,(opens in a new tab) Governor Josh Shapiro ordered United States and Commonwealth flags on all Commonwealth facilities, public buildings, and grounds across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to fly at half staff on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in observance of Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance in honor of the individuals who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

Congress has designated September 11 of each year as Patriot Day and has requested the observance of September 11 as an annually recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance.

The flags shall fly at half-staff beginning at sunrise on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, and return to full staff?at sunrise on Thursday, September 12.

All Pennsylvanians are invited to participate in this tribute.
