Guess who’s coming to Negaunee? Heikki Lunta! Last year’s event featured our first ever Irontown Rail Jam and Snowboard competition, this and much more are back, guaranteed to pack your weekend full of fun and excitement!

Presented by Travel Marquette, WLUC TV6, The Compound Ski and Snowboard Shop, and Negaunee’s DDA, will be held Friday, February 3 and Saturday, February 4, 2023. The event’s premier sponsors also include Eagle Mine, NMU, and The Fire Station.

The weekend will kick-off at 5 pm with the lighting of the traditional bonfire at Tobin and Iron Streets. Spectators won’t want to miss the excitement of the Irontown Rail Jam Competition as snowboarders and skiers display their tricks and turns starting at 6:00 p.m. Friday evening will also include activities at the UP-Luge Club, Lantern Snowshoe Tours of Old Town, a stroll through the Tunnel of Lights, and specials and treats featured by local restaurants and pubs.

Saturday’s events start at 7 a.m. with the South Shore Fishing Association’s Teal Lake Ice Fishing Tournament. Catch breakfast at the Elks or Eagles then take in the day’s activities at both the UP-Luge Club and the Ishpeming Ski Club sites. Restaurants and pubs will be open all day serving great food and drinks. Evening snowshoe lantern tours of Old Town resume and rounding out the day’s events will be the “Freeze Yer Fanny Fatbike Race”. Closing out the weekend the crowd will be treated to a winter firework display presented in part by Jackson’s Pit Grill & Bar and Tino’s.
