Hey, Gretchen - It Wasn't Funny

Government and Politics

October 11, 2024

You know when you’re in a group and someone makes a joke that doesn’t land, and everyone chuckles kinda awkwardly? Or when a joke simply makes no sense, and you’re just met with an unnerving silence?

That happens to the best of us. But sometimes, a “joke” isn’t a joke at all - it’s outright offensive.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer - whose obsession with TikTok trends is giving us iPad kid vibes - posted a video that at best, is really, really, REALLY weird

But for Catholics – it’s an obvious mockery of the sacred sacrament of communion.

According to the Michigan Catholic Conference, 17.5% of Michigan’s population is Catholic.

This insult comes as no surprise to Catholics who are routinely insulted by the left - most recently, by Kamala Harris’ snub of the annual Al Smith dinner - but it doesn’t make it okay.

“Gretchen Whitmer’s tiktok video was flat out offensive. While Kamala Harris might be okay with offending Catholic populations, Catholic Michiganders deserve better. She should apologize immediately, “ said MIGOP Chairman Pete Hoekstra.
