(Rally is two days before Pennsylvania Voter Registration Deadline of Oct. 21)

Philadelphia, PA — “Black Men Vote” (#blackmenvotephilly) to register Black male voters aged 18-40 in low voter turnout areas of Philadelphia, provide health screenings, giveaways, food and fellowship. The goal is to engage over 150+ men and community partners in the area, following canvassing efforts this week to help spread the word and maximize outreach. The rally is timely since it will occur just 2 days before Pennsylvania’s Oct. 21 voter registration deadline.

“As Black men, we have a responsibility to step up in the democratic process by getting our brothers registered to vote and making sure we show up at the ballot box. Our voices matter, and it’s up to us to make them heard.” said Rev. Cassius L. Rudolph, organizer and founder of the Black Men Vote initiative. “It’s time for us to step up and own our role in this democracy. Our voices are critical to the future of this city, this state, and this nation.”

Philadelphia is Pennsylvania’s most populous city and nearly 40% of its residents are Black but voter turnout last fall in Black precincts was 11% lower than four years ago – despite the fact that voters elected the city’s first Black female mayor: Cherelle Parker.
