ICYMI: Detroit News: Whitmer’s Weird TikTok Video Wasn’t Funny, or Cool

Government and Politics

October 16, 2024

In case you missed it, Gretchen Whitmer’s out of touch, forced “apology” to Catholic Michiganders did little to ease the hurt from her sorely off base TikTok video mocking the Eucharist last week.

“What was supposed to be a video about the importance of the CHIPS Act to Michigan jobs, has been construed as something it was never intended to be, and I apologize for that,” Whitmer’s statement said.

As the Detroit News pointed out, this non-apology really meant “In other words: sorry you took the clip exactly as it was presented.”

“That doesn’t qualify as an apology, but rather compounds the insult to people of faith. It’s another choice by Whitmer to ally with radical progressives to trumpet her abortion obsession.”

This is just further proof that radical democrats like Gretchen Whitmer, Elissa Slotkin, and Kamala Harris are more concerned with keeping the extreme fringes of their party appeased than the average Michigander.

OPINION: Buss: Whitmer’s weird TikTok video wasn’t funny, or cool

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s weird online video last week seemingly mocking the Eucharist is offensive in its own right. Her “apology” added insult to injury. But beyond that, the subsequent interview laced with abortion messaging is a perfect example of why Whitmer has alienated many Christians, Catholics in particular.

In her quest to be the nation’s TikTok governor, Whitmer is quick to jump on a social media trend, however ridiculous it may be.
