On March 17th, Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea announced Dakota Sharette has been named the party’s executive director.

“The Idaho Democratic Party is thrilled to announce Dakota Sharette as our new Executive Director,” said IDP Chair Lauren Necochea. “After a national search, it became clear that the best leader for this role was already in our ranks. Dakota has been battle-tested in Idaho politics and has proven his ability to grow our party, build winning campaigns, and raise the resources needed to compete. His deep knowledge of Idaho and his track record of success make him the right person to lead us in this critical moment. We are excited to have a dedicated, strategic operative ready to roll up his sleeves and continue the fight for our freedoms, our families, and our futures.”

Dakota Sharette grew up in Payette, where he developed a deep appreciation for Idaho’s tight-knit communities and natural landscapes. His journey with the Idaho Democratic Party began as a high school intern. Over the past decade, he has worked on various campaigns in Idaho and Colorado, gaining extensive experience in fundraising, campaign strategy, and party operations.

Most recently, as the Idaho Democratic Party’s finance director, Sharette led a major expansion of the party’s fundraising efforts, nearly tripling revenue and strengthening Democratic infrastructure statewide. As executive director, he is focused on building strong local Democratic organizations, expanding direct voter outreach, and ensuring every Idahoan has a voice in shaping the state’s future.

Sharette holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in American history from Boise State University. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys hiking and fishing in Idaho’s backcountry. He lives in Boise with his wife, Phaeren Sharette.
